BF1 on WE1

Only 6 racers attended last Sunday to try and tame one of the most excessive cars (BF1) on a track that could be considered boring with any other car (Westhill), but becomes a permanent thread of spinning at the speed achieved by the BF1, and for the longest race of the season so far.

Funny enough, it would be easy to make a parallel with the lack of interest for the dying era of the F1 in real life where car makers and spectators do not consider the formula as the ultimate form of mechanical sport and entertainment anymore. We can only hope that our league had to suffer from the disregard for F1 that night and that we can expect more racers on another occasion.
As for the race, Sennaboy stole the lead from Jyuetsch and passed turn one ahead of the pack. Turn one went without incident, turn 2 was another story, with cold tyres and loads of fuel, lap one of 77 was the theater of a lot of panic. Jyuetsch hit the rail backward and destroyed his suspension, Hanziboy and Scatter went for a little ride in the grass, and the cars managed to complete lap one with a consequent gap between each racer, leaving Senna and towz-T in front, and Jyuetsch, our faster driver for tonight, way at the back and forced to make a pit stop for repairs.

The first safety car intervention only came on lap 2 as Senna lost the rear and got stuck in the sandtrap after he violently hit the wall, allowing the rest of the cars to rejoin for an unofficial second start. At the restart towz-T, now leader, makes a pit stop, but cold tyres on cars still heavily loaded caused more problem and half the cars are in for some gardening again.

Liveforspeed.be-XT took the lead for the next 25 laps of a somewhat lonely race, with several isolated incidents leading most of the people involved to visit the pits more than scheduled.

In the meantime, Jyuetsch had made an impressive comeback, driving more than 2 seconds faster than the leaders and the pit necessities made him the leader of the race for some time, until he had to pit in too, giving the lead back to Xtian.

On lap 36 of 77, Jyuetsch had come back again on the leader, but his first attempt was a little too optimistic and Xtian took back his position until next lap.

Next lap, same place, same causes, same effect, with the exception that when Xtian tried to jump inside J's car going wide, he bumped into J's gearbox, sending him spinning. Both stopped until they recovered.
Then again, passing a few seconds later using slipstreaming effect would have been much safer than trying to pass in the last corner before the long straight. Good thing that neither of the cars were seriously damaged, call it a race incident, one of the very few of this race. We are happy to say that no penalties had to be given during this race.

Except that ...Jyuetsch, after 13 laps on P1, took a pitstop just as the safety car was called, and the automatic procedure of closing the pits in the event of a safety car displayed a 30 second penalty, just after Jyuetsch went out of the pits full speed, ignoring the speed limit. The 30 seconds penalty was of course an error and had to be taken off the final result.
Race went on with Jyuetsch now second (even after his stop and go for speeding in pitlane) behind Xtian, who soon had to pit in also for refuel, giving the lead back to J.
The last 20 laps went on with the usual understeer in the grass/spinning incidents until the last SC call at lap 69 giving the racers a chance to regroup.
Jyuetsch flew away to a well deserved victory, with Xtian finishing less than 30 seconds behind after 1H45 of racing despite a blown tyre on the last lap, followed by towz-T who made an impressive race to regain 3rd place, Hanziboy 4th and Scatter, unfortunately ending the race upside down on the last lap.

See you there .. if you dare take the challenge !!
